Giuseppe Lipari is a PhD student in Political Science and Sociology at the Scuola Normale Superiore from Sicily, Italy. His work is currently focused on the student movement of secondary education and he has previously investigated student politics of higher education. In particular, his ongoing research looks at the role of student unions of secondary education in continuities of student politics between latency and visibility, using qualitative methods and European national case studies.
Involved since high school in social movements, he has served in the Board of OBESSU (2018–20), the European platform of student unions of secondary education, and in the first Steering Committee of the Global Student Forum (2020–2). He holds a BA in Political Science and International Relations from the University of Palermo and a MA in International Relations from the Alma Mater Studiorum – University of Bologna. He has been core research group member and regional research coordinator of the project Student Impact on Higher Education Globally – SIHEG of Harvard University led by Manja Klemenčič and co-author of three chapters of the related Bloomsbury Handbook of Student Politics and Representation in Higher Education (2024). He is part of the team of co-editors of the 10 th NORRAG Special Issue Education for Societal Transformation: Alternatives for a Just Future, and member of SISP – Italian Political Science Association, TAP – The Alternatives Project, CIES – Comparative and International Education Society and of the Istituto Gramsci Siciliano.
