Carla is a Research Fellow at the Scuola Normale Superiore and a member of the Center for Social Movement Studies (COSMOS). She is currently contributing to the ECS-Euro research project (Enacting Citizenship and Solidarity in Europe from Below), conducting ethnographic research on local initiatives in the areas of migrant rights, housing, and care work.

She earned her PhD in Political Science and Sociology at the Scuola Normale Superiore, with a dissertation exploring the interplay between institutional and extra-institutional actors in the Scottish and Catalan pro-independence movements. Prior to joining SNS, Carla completed her B.A. in Modern Languages and International Studies at Ca’Foscari University of Venice, and her M.A. in Political and Social Sciences at Sciences Po Strasbourg.

In addition, Carla conducted research on environmental movements, focusing on protests such as the No MUOS campaign and opposition to wind power plants in Italy.
