Angela is a postdoctoral research fellow at the Scuola Normale Superiore. Her
current research explores forms of resistance and protest around total institutions in
times of democratic backsliding, with a specific focus on migrants’ detention. She
previously worked on the ECS-Euro research project – Enacting Citizenship and
Solidarity in Europe from Below, investigating grassroots local initiatives around
migration, housing, and care work.

She holds a Ph.D. in Political Science and Sociology
from the Scuola Normale Superiore, with a dissertation on migrants’ movements and
collective memory. Her work is published in Italian and international scientific journals
such as Social Movement Studies, American Behavioral Scientist, and Partecipazione e
Conflitto. Her forthcoming book Migrants’ Collective Action: A Temporal Approach will be published by Routledge in 2026.
