Adele is a PhD candidate in Transnational Governance at the Scuola Normale Superiore (SNS). In her research she focuses on the relationship between gender and borders in Europe, and in particular on the experiences of women and trans* migrants as they cross multiple frontiers in the continent. Through an analysis of the border experiences of bodies and subjectivities variously understood as vulnerable and oppressed, the aim of the research is to uncover the details of the gendered and sexed characteristics of the European border regime.
Prior to joining the SNS, Adele obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a minor in Middle Eastern Studies from the University of Amsterdam, a Master’s degree in InternationalSecurity Studies (University of Trento and Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies) and a II-degree Master in Political Science from the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies. Adele alsocollaborates on a project on academic freedom with prof. Ester Gallo (University of Trento), and is an editor for the academic blog Security Praxis. (January 2025)
