Ismini – Nikoleta Mathioudaki holds dual undergraduate degrees—one in Political Science and History from Panteion University, Athens, and another in Law from Nanterre University, Paris. Complementing her academic journey, she earned an LLM in Public International Law from the University of Amsterdam. Currently, she is immersed in her Ph.D. studies at Scuola Normale Superiore in Florence, actively contributing to empirical research in the dynamic intersection of border digitalization and fundamental human rights.
Beyond her academic pursuits, Ismini is a dedicated legal professional, a member of the Athens Bar Association since 2018. Her legal career has been shaped by extensive work as a human rights lawyer in Athens, with a particular focus on migration and refugee law. Her commitment extends to collaborative research projects with esteemed institutions such as the University of Goldsmiths and Oxford University.
Ismini’s expertise encompasses an in-depth exploration of violations stemming from borders associated with digital border control, encompassing diverse technologies, from a socio-legal perspective. Her primary research interests orbit around the realms of cross-border digitalized governance, the nexus between human rights and the evolving border assemblage, and the crucial facet of police accountability. With a multifaceted background spanning law, international relations, and human rights advocacy, Ismini brings a rich tapestry of experience to her academic and professional endeavors.
