Noemi Cipriano is a Phd student at the Scuola Normale Superiore. Her research focuses on inclusiveness within participatory-deliberative spaces. With the aim of understanding how to reduce the conditions of exclusion and marginalization within participatory-deliberative contexts, her research focuses on the study of new direct communication tools that can help marginalized actors to participate and express themselves more actively.
Before becoming a Phd student at the Scuola Normale Superiore, Noemi obtained a bachelor’s degree in political science and international Organizations at the University of Palermo and a master’s degree in Sociology and Social Change at the University of Florence. She was an ordinary student at the Scuola Normale Superiore, from which she obtained the relevant diploma. During her undergraduate years she did an Erasmus study period at Sciences Po in Toulouse. After her master’s degree she carried out a research period on urban studies at Sciences Po Paris.
Although her background is more inherent to political sociology, she is very open to the contamination of knowledge from other fields of interest: from political philosophy to social communication studies. Furthermore, she looks with interest at the creative expression of social and individual potential. Combating social and economic inequalities is an objective of hers not only in the specifically academic sphere, but also in the actions of everyday political practice.
Research interests: participatory democracy, deliberative democracy, Democracy from below, commons, and political sociology
