Herbert Reiter is Research Associate at the European University Institute. He received his Pd.D. in history from the European University Institute (1988). He has published on the history of political asylum, the policing of protest, and the global justice movement. His current research focuses on the workers’ movement in democratization processes and on the comparative history of the First of May (labor day)
