Bogumila Hall is a doctoral candidate in Sociology, at the European University Institute in Florence, working under the supervision of prof. Donatella della Porta and prof. Asef Bayat. Her thesis is an ethnographic study of subaltern politics and patterns of marginalization, and focuses on the Bedouins from the Naqab and the ‘al-Akhdam’ community in Yemen. She works within the framework of critical anthropology, contentious politics and subaltern studies.She holds a B.A. degree in Middle Eastern Studies and M.A. degree in Sociology from Jagiellonian University in Cracow, Poland. During her studies, she learnt Arabic and conducted field work in Syria and Yemen.
