Batuhan Eren is a PhD candidate in Political Science and Sociology at Scuola Normale Superiore in Florence, and a member of the Center on Social Movements Studies (COSMOS). He holds a BA in International Relations at Bilkent University, with a minor degree in Psychology, and an MA in International Relations at Koç University. Previously, he also worked as a research assistant in the ERC-funded research project “The New Politics of Welfare: Towards an ‘Emerging Markets’ Welfare State Regime”.
Batuhan’s research focuses on collective action and social movements, with a particular interest in the cross-national diffusion of protests and global waves of mobilization. In his PhD project, he investigates why and in what ways people take inspiration from protesters in distant places to mobilize. He is also interested in Grounded Theory Methodology and its use in social movement research.
